| GUY PAQUET Guy Paquet is a self-taught artist, who has successfully made his way into the art world. With a technique that is refined and adventurous at the same time, Guy Paquet is most recognized for his "3/4 skies". They are generally the central focus of his compositions, and they have been represented in states that range from a peaceful evening, to a wild storm. The land and water in the lower part of his pieces is painted with extraordinary attention to detail, while remaining faithful to his personal style. His canvases are built around the themes of freedom and space. They represent the ocean, the land and the air. Of a minimalist realist style, his compositions reflect purity, non-temporality and sensibility. Guy Paquet was born in 1949 in Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec, which he has nicknamed his "spiritual homeland". It was a childhood dream of his to be a painter, and to adventure out to sea. Now that he has fulfilled those dreams, he chose to incorporate the two in his pieces; the sea is always present is his paintings. His career as an artist began in Quebec City in the late 1970's. Since then, he has sold paintings to public and private collectors, and permanently exhibits in many galleries across Canada, and has even held exhibitions in France. Paquet's career began in Québec City, twenty-five years ago, when he first started showing his work. Several solo shows followed in Baie-St-Paul as well in the most prestigious galleries of Toronto and Montréal. By fulfilling his childhood dreams, Guy Paquet encourages all of us to be kids again. We are all navigating on a fine membrane which reflects the entire universe, as we try to understand it. The moon, the sun and the stars are all there to make the sea become a splendid mirror reflecting the immensity of life and of the universe. |
