| STATEMENT To me, the world is an amazing view. As an artist, I may take liberties in order to point something out. I might adopt a unique physical perspective, deconstruct the landscape, highlight the relationship between positive and negative, natural and unnatural, order and chaos; all to grant privilege to the ordinary…..to see it in a new way. I work in oil and strive for a translucent quality; often scratching or rubbing back to an original under glaze. Even though, from a distance the piece may be perceived as representational, what happens on the surface of the canvas is as important to me as the image. In that way, my work falls between representational and abstract. |
