STATEMENT In original cultures, things happening (music and dance) and things done (the making of objects: art) are one. The artist responds to things happening; to life and to death, and so records human experience. Through a dialogue of reverence and a vital process of working, the paintings become visual journals. They document and honor daily life, the self, the ordinary, memory, objects, the living and the dead, language, ritual and play.
